• Hotbox: Lickity Split

The Named "Best Local Punk Band" by the San Francisco Bay Guardian, Hotbox-led by front-woman Mel Chappell-is a super sundae of punk delight. Hotbox also features Barry D'Live, the hot fudge to Mel's maraschino cherry, formerly of RKL and hired gun for bands like GWAR and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. Chris Rest, also on guitar duties, is also a member of a Fat Wreck Chords favorite, Lagwagon. Lickity Split was Co-produced by the band and Fat Mike of NOFX fame.

Lickity Split is a frantic onslaught of melodic punk anthems like" Poor Betty Blue," "Take You On," and "Get Out." The first thing you'll notice are the sultry, yet powerful, female vocals. Dueling axes punch and crunch and the rhythm section is airtight. The album is rooted in familiar sounds, but plays fast and loose with punk conventions. Also featured is a cover of Josie Cotton's classic Valley Girl tune "Johnny Are You Queer?"
